Ingredients
  

For the Cake:

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup whole milk or almond milk for dairy-free version

For the Frosting:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp heavy cream or non-dairy cream for dairy-free version
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Optional Decoration:

  • Fresh berries strawberries, raspberries, blueberries
  • Edible flowers
  • Sprinkles or chocolate shavings

Instructions
 

Prepare the Oven and Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a heart-shaped cake pan with butter or cooking spray, and lightly dust with flour to ensure easy removal.

    Mix the Dry Ingredients: In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

      Cream the Butter and Sugar: In a separate large bowl, beat softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy using an electric mixer.

        Add the Eggs and Vanilla: Mix in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract and combine.

          Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, alternating with milk. Mix until just combined.

            Bake the Cake: Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

              Cool and Frost: Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Frost with your choice of buttercream frosting and decorate with fresh berries, edible flowers, or sprinkles.
